BSA Minimum Suggested Equipment List

This list is set up for about 3days of camping in moderate weather to cold [35 degree nights]. Adjust it as required for other weather conditions and durations.

BASICS

backpack / duffle bag

sleeping bag and stuffsack

extra blanket

flashlight and batteries

waterproof matches or gas lighter

knife or multi-purpose tool [totem chip req]

compass

whistle

1-quart water bottle

nylon rope, 25 feet or more optional

first aid kit, mole skin, band aids, anti-biotic cream

pillow

CLOTHING (besides what you wear at any time)

light rain jacket (Gore-Tex or heavy nylon)

medium coat

poncho (especially if jacket is not waterproof)

sweater, long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt (polypro)

2 pair socks + 1 pair to sleep in [change your socks before going to bed]

2 pair underwear

1 pair long pants + what your are wearing

2 tee-shirts

1 long sleeve shirt

hat or cap

stocking cap

gloves / optional

Good boots (waterproof) or hiking shoes that will support your ankles

PERSONAL GEAR

wash cloth / towel

toothpaste

toothbrush
